Ingredients
4 dl (1 2/3 c) water
200 g (7 oz) raw Brazil nuts
1 grilled red pepper
35 g (3 Tbsp) yeast flakes
1 Tbsp. onion powder
1 ½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. garlic powder
¾ tsp .smoked paprika powder
2 Tbsp. sesame seeds (optional)
2 dl (2/3 c) cold water
1 tsp. agar-agar powder
Instructions
Blend the Brazil nuts dry in a blender until finely ground. Add the rest of the ingredients, except the cold water and agar-agar. Blend very well, until the mixture is very smooth. Mix the cold water with the agar-agar in a pot and bring it to a boil while constantly stirring. Let it boil for 2 – 3 minutes while still stirring. Add the Brazil nut mixture to the agar-agar mixture and mix well. Pour quickly over into forms and chill.
Tip
This same basic recipe can be made with cashews and varied with other seasonings like dill instead of paprika, or you can add well-drained sliced olives.
